How do we begin improving our system?
Any improvement must involve building our systems capacity. This raises a number of questions for leaders, teachers and administrators:
- How does a system develop the capacity of the people within it: teachers, counselors, para-professionals, principals and administrators? What are some reasonable starting places with each of these constituencies?
- What professional development programs and/or models are effective at beginning to move the system forward?
- What organizational structures within the system could hamper building capacity and how might they be tackled?
- What are reasonable trajectories for different components of a system-wide plan? What evidence indicates progress towards attainment of a districtís goals?
